Abby Urtz
Abigail Urtz, Executive Vice President and Head of Product Strategies and Economics, is located in Memphis. In addition to overseeing the Firm’s Product Strategies and Economics team, Abby is a dedicated strategist to the Municipal Strategies Group, writing commentary on market and credit trends and leveraging FHN Financial’s extensive credit database to provide unique analytics and investment solutions to the Firm’s institutional customers.
Related to Municipals, Abby developed the Firm’s proprietary Municipal Credit Review Report that helps investors manage their credit exposure in municipal investment portfolios. Abby also pioneered an investment portfolio screening system to help investors respond quickly to rapidly evolving credit conditions in the marketplace.
As a sought-after speaker, Abby has presented at a variety of industry conferences and company-hosted events. Her instructional approach combines technical knowledge with practical applications, making complex concepts accessible to varied audiences. Her commitment to education is further demonstrated through the individualized training sessions she conducts for institutional investors and analysts, covering topics from yield curve analysis to regulatory compliance in the municipal marketplace. Abby has authored numerous educational resources widely used throughout the industry, including comprehensive primers on municipal credit sectors, tax considerations, and market structure. Her published materials serve as reference guides for both seasoned professionals and those new to municipal finance.
Prior to joining FHN Financial in 2009, Mrs. Urtz worked in the Economic Research Department at the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco. Abby earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mathematics and Economics from Emory University. Abby currently holds her FINRA Series 7, 24, 52, 53, 63, and SIE licenses.
