We expect the Fed will leave rates unchanged at next week’s FOMC meeting, but the statement and press conference should indicate most, if not all, committee members expect more rate hikes will follow. Warsh will likely take a similar line as in July, when he said the committee did not see enough new data in the intermeeting period to feel confident raising rates, but he could signal a December hike is likely.
