FHN Financial Economic Weekly: Friday, August 14, 2026

The July CPI and PPI trimmed market expectations for a September rate hike and cumulative policy tightening over the next six months. For now, upcoming months of inflation data will determine whether the Fed tightens or stays on hold. It will take sustained disinflation before a critical mass within the FOMC considers rate cuts.
