This week, we take a break from private-credit and Iran-conflict headlines to focus on the employment side of the Fed’s dual mandate. Since the January FOMC meeting, participants have barely talked about employment. The bulk of the FOMC considers inflation the side of the mandate most in need of attention. They are probably right to do so.
